Vanity tops in the bathroom have two parts to play: a character of sturdiness and a shield to water, soap, and make-up. It must be adequate enough to be a surface to work on 24/7. It cannot be fragile or something that stains very easily. The bathroom vanity top can be central and connects to wooden cabinets underneath and the glass mirror above. The kind of surface chosen upon for a vanity top is mainly based on one’s budget and style. Here are some surfaces to consider when buying a vanity top.

The first two that are obvious are granite and marble. For a bathroom with a master bath or shower, it definitely works to have granite or marble because it gets possible homebuyers to pay at full value because of the glossy look. It has become more affordable today than ever, meaning it does not have to be a high-priced upgrade. It is fairly more expensive than other surfaces, but it can deal with the wear-and-tear. Another con to marble is that it must be sealed to prevent grease from seeping in and staining it, which can happen easily. With granite, it will resist most stains.

Next, there is a solid surface with quartzite materials as they are very sturdy and requires not that much maintenance on it. Scratches on quartz can be wiped out with strong sand  paper while the surface can deal with heat and a cost similar to granite and marble. Then, there is laminate, which is cheaper to buy and comes in multiple versions that include being imitation solid surface and granite. Laminate is very versatile, resistant to water, and is moderately resistant to stains; however, it does burn, grey up, and bend.

The last two vanity top surface to consider buying is tile and wood. The main con of tile is the maintenance, with its lines holding down onmuck. That is the standard way of setting up tile, but it can be assembled in a specific pattern where the lines in between don’t turn into a spider web that eats everything it touches. Plus, tiles are presented in a variety of colors and appearances, and the creative element that can be put on makes tile an attractive surface for purchase. Wooden vanity tops are also water-sealed because it is a surface that can falter to water damage and rot away. It is a problem sitting around sinks and faucets because of the risk of leaks. On the upside, a wooden vanity top gives a cozy invitation with a natural look. It may be thicker than other surfaces, which could affect installation, but many would still consider wood because it is cheaper.

It comes down to what the rest of the house looks like, cost, and personal feel. It is up to the house owner on how it should look when it is completed. Make the vanity top look as pretty as possible.
